Made it to therapy. Frustrated as hell with the privilege my counselor is steeped in.... she doesn't get that I live in a shitty neighborhood and going to a book club would be great but when that means taking the bus home after dark it's not terribly safe and I have to weigh the pluses and minuses carefully. Also made the mistake of introducing her to spoon theory and got the same rage-inducing remark I got from a former, really bad therp: "But I find I have more spoons when I use them!" Do they stamp it in their brains or something?

But I did two nice things at the clinic this morning, so I'm glad I went. I gave some tissue to a guy who started crying during group, and I remembered to bring a CD I'd burned for another regular. So I was able to be kind in small ways, which makes me feel a little better about myself.

Ordered cat food, cat litter, dishwasher detergent, instant mashed potatoes, linen spray and an e-book off of Amazon. So I've been productive.

AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH! about "more spoons when I use them". NO YOU DON'T YOU HAVE MORE HIT POINTS. (I don't remember where I found this distinction, but it was a wiki talking about the DW development chatroots, in which the distinction is made between spoons and hit points: hit points, as in tabletop and video-game RPGs, regenerate naturally over time and grow with experiences; SPOONS DON'T. And one person may have spoons for one thing and hit points for another and for someone else it might be the exact opposite. So your aggravating!therps have more HIT POINTS when they do those things; they do not have more spoons BECAUSE SPOONS DON'T WORK THAT WAY.)

But good for you! You braved therapy and did awesome things for people. (You are fantastic about doing awesome things for people, in my experience. *hugs*)

RPG's are so damn useful, because they're a more colorful variation on the same kind of theme that psych research/the DSM is trying to get at, that business of putting the behaviors and abilities of sentient beings into categorical and/or quantitative variables.

And, yeah. There's a lot of debate in the field, IIRC, about meeting HIPAA standards for online therapy for starters, so ugh. Good times.

:D Good for you!

Yeah! And with CISPA by whatever name being at least potentially a thing, I fear it's likely to stay that way for a while, because on top of the sheer technical challenges the legal challenges factor in. Which is sad. :(
